How the plan works
Protection Plus is a non-participating unit-linked life insurance plan. In this policy, the investment risk in the investment portfolio is borne by the policyholder. You choose the premium, a Basic Sum Assured multiple, the premium paying term and the policy term. After the premium allocation charge, premiums buy units in the fund you select. Top-up premiums go into a separate Top-up Premium Fund in the same fund type. There is a 5-year lock-in during which money cannot be fully or partly withdrawn. Risk cover starts from the date of commencement. It can be bought through agents and other intermediaries or online at www.licindia.in.
